Terms of service
Effective October 4, 2026
These terms govern your use of the Salt Services client portal at my.saltservicesusa.com, and of the QuickBooks Online connection in this portal and in the client portals Salt Services builds and operates for its clients. By logging in, or by connecting QuickBooks, you accept them. Your signed hosting or service agreement with Salt Services controls wherever it differs from these terms.
Account access
Portal accounts are created by Salt Services for hosting clients and staff — there's no public sign-up. You're responsible for keeping your password and the phone/email used for login codes current and secure, and for anything that happens under your account.
What the portal shows you
The portal displays information about your own hosting account and website: billing status and invoice history, visitor and search-performance data, the SEO work plan for your site (if included in your service), and monthly reports (if included). It's provided as a convenience alongside your hosting service, not sold separately.
Billing and non-payment
Hosting subscriptions are billed through Stripe per the price set in your agreement. If a payment fails, we'll notify you and give you a chance to update your card before anything changes. If payment remains unresolved, your website may be temporarily paused until it's resolved — DNS and your site's files are never altered or deleted, only which server the domain points to. Service resumes automatically once payment succeeds.
Domains registered through us
When we register or transfer a domain for you, the domain is yours. You are recorded as its owner in the registry, under your own name and business address. We manage it on your behalf — we handle registrar and ICANN correspondence, keep the registration renewed, and manage its DNS records — and for that purpose our address, rather than yours, is listed as the contact email on the registration.
You can leave at any time. Ask us for the domain's authorization code — that's the code that moves a domain to another registrar — and we'll give it to you and lift the transfer lock the registrar places on it. We won't withhold either, delay you, or ask you why. We will never transfer or sell your domain, and we won't knowingly let it expire.
Domain registration and renewal fees are separate from your hosting subscription and are charged at the price quoted when you buy or renew. Those fees are yours to pay; if they go unpaid, the domain can expire, and that outcome is outside our control.
QuickBooks Online connection
Connecting QuickBooks is optional. By connecting, you confirm you're authorized to give access to that QuickBooks company, and you allow us to read and write to it as described in our privacy policy: reading accounts, vendors, customers, transactions and reports, and writing expenses and receipt attachments for costs that someone on your account has entered or confirmed.
We're not your accountant or bookkeeper, and nothing in the portal is tax, legal or accounting advice. Receipts are read automatically, and can be misread. The amount, date and account on each entry are what you or your team approved, so review your books as you normally would. The portal's income and expense figures are only as accurate as the data in Stripe and QuickBooks behind them.
You can disconnect at any time, from the portal or from inside QuickBooks. The connection depends on Intuit's service and on Intuit's terms for QuickBooks, which apply to your QuickBooks account separately from these terms. Our limitation of liability below applies to the QuickBooks connection too.
Requesting changes
The "Request a change" form sends your request to us; it doesn't publish automatically. Changes go live only after you've approved them on a preview link, unless your agreement says otherwise.
No guarantee of results
Where the portal shows analytics or search performance data, that's a report of what happened, not a promise of what will happen. We commit to doing the work described in your agreement, not to specific traffic, ranking, or revenue outcomes.
Acceptable use
Don't attempt to access another client's account or data, probe the portal for vulnerabilities, or use it for anything unrelated to managing your own hosting account.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The portal is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Salt Services will not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the portal, and our total liability is limited to the hosting fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts serving Sevier County, Tennessee. Before filing anything, we agree to try first to resolve it with a direct conversation.
